About this Event

David Henry Hwang's Pulitzer Prize finalist is a semi-autobiographical mockumentary that explores identity politics and the theatre world with razor-sharp wit. When the Chinese-American playwright protests the casting of a white actor in Miss Saigon, he never expects to make the same mistake himself. After accidentally casting a white actor in the lead Asian role of his own play, he scrambles to cover his tracks, spinning a web of half-truths, media frenzy and personal contradictions. Fresh off a Broadway run, this smart comedy skewers theatre, race and public image in a laugh-out-loud way.

Written by David Henry Hwang Directed by May Adrales

The satiric comedy contains mild profanity, euphemistic mention of pornography and sex toys, and comically racist language used by stereotyped characters. It is best suited for students who can handle the quick-moving dialogue and references to events from 1988 to the present.
