Kevin Carr
As an ardent storyteller and traditional folk musician, Kevin Carr has journeyed extensively, from the Fillmore West to the Oregon Country Fair, the former Soviet Union, Spain, Alaska, and Mexico. He has immersed himself in the unique musical traditions of these regions, performing solo shows, sharing his gathered stories, and forming deep connections through the universal medium of music. His solo performances include intriguing explorations such as "The Other Pipes" focusing on exotic bagpiping traditions, and "Fiddle Fables," stories by and about fiddlers.
Kevin collaborates with a diverse range of bands, including Wake the Dead, Hillbillies from Mars, Les Tetes de Violon, Winter's Carol, Verdegaio, The Family Carr, Orujo, and OSPA. He leads fiddle workshops, teaching dance tunes in various styles, and has been part of the faculty at the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes, Sierra Fiddle Camp, and several other music camps across North America and Spain. He also enriches school presentations and enlivens traditional dances with his music. Starting with guitar lessons at age twelve, Kevin's musical journey has traversed rock bands, the discovery of traditional Irish music, and mastery over a variety of instruments including the fiddle, bagpipes, accordion, and banjo. His passion for storytelling was kindled by his grandfather and father, and nurtured by his two children, Daniel and Molly.
