Jeremy Ferrar
Jeremy Ferrara's music is an intimate emotional journey, his tunes resonating deep within the soul. Each lyric he shares, every note he plucks on his guitar, is meticulously designed to stir emotions. Whether it's his mellifluous voice or his evocative guitar playing, you're sure to be moved. Ferrara, the modern-day folksinger, and song-seer, delivers music that's as enjoyable as it is intricate. His recent album, Everything I Hold, produced by Mike Coykendall, encapsulates this essence, featuring Ferrara's vocal and guitar prowess across eight mesmerizing tracks that fill your being with amazement, compassion, and joy.
Since his precocious foray into music at the age of 11, Ferrara's passion for the craft has only grown. However, it was during his physics studies at UC Santa Barbara that he truly embraced his love for music. He found solace and inspiration in dynamic DIY music venues like Biko Garage, which served as a crucible for his musical identity and ignited his love for touring — a love that has seen him traverse the US and Europe on multiple tours over the last four years.
Despite drawing inspiration from music icons such as Joni Mitchell, Conor Oberst, Adrianne Lenker, and Neil Young, Ferrara maintains a sound that's uniquely his. His charmingly candid lyrics merge seamlessly with contemporary indie hooks and timeless, tender folk nuances. The melodic twang of open tunings and fingerpicking lend an alluring depth to Ferrara's compositions. His debut album, With Every Change (2020), recorded initially on the stage of a century-old theatre in the quaint mountain town of Enterprise, Oregon, harks back to the methods of his folk predecessors, before the addition of full band features like keyboard and pedal steel.
The core of Ferrara's work mirrors his own heart. His open-hearted songwriting leaves no emotion unexplored, unabashedly wearing his heart on his sleeve. When you listen to Ferrara, you're not just hearing a song; you're experiencing the rhythm of his soul.
